President's Welcome

Back to PWI Magazine - Summer 2011

Dear PWI members and readers,

The last 3 months since the election of the new board have been extremely busy for all of us getting the new board and the new executive team up and running. If you didn’t have the opportunity to meet us yet, you can discover the team here
I want to take this opportunity to thank Odile Flament. She has been elected as our new treasurer last May. Her start-up is picking up, she needs to spend every single minute on it. Unfortunately for us she had to step back from her role. We wish her a lot of success in her new adventure.

The new team is working hard to help you in your career development and also help  the companies to work on their retention programs to keep a gender balanced talent pipeline.  Each company have a different approach. Danone’s example (read here) on diversity management is a very enlightening case study showing that, with an individual talent management strategy it is possible to change the rules; nevertheless, the road ahead of us is still long. To get a better understanding about what you are expecting from PWI, we will conduct soon two surveys, one on the content, the « what », and another one more on « logistics », the « when ». It won’t take long to answer them, but it is key that we get a lot of answers.

During the summer, we have started developing some new programs for you. Mentoring will be the first one to be launched in September. Mentoring really is something that can benefit everyone. It helps the mentees develop and advance through their career and the mentors can gain extra skills and understanding too. Read more about it under “topic of the edition.
We are also building our events calendar till the end of the year. We hope to welcome you at our upcoming events and get you connected with your fellow Brussels members and those across Europe.

We want to keep the next editions of our magazine lighter with only featured articles. To separate the time related issue, we will published our sessions: “Feedback from our past events” and “Spotted by” on a blog and also on twitter and Facebook.
Time now to discover our brand new “PWI Magazine – Summer edition”.  We hope you will be inspired by this issue of our newsletter. If you’d like to comment on it, or contribute to the next issue, please get in touch by emailing Alessandra Zocca at editor@pwi.be

Enjoy the reading!
