Time is finite, and our energy is renewable. The myth of ‘having it all’ creates additional pressure for professionals against the reality that most people, from time to time, experience periods of exhaustion or feeling out of balance, with a common side effect of guilt about what hasn’t been done.

This session will explore how to actively develop your resilience to support a sustainable career, the ability to cope under pressure, effectively manage stress, and enable a healthy work-life blend.

         24 April 2025 | ⏰ 15:00 - 18:00 |  For men only

    Why a Program for Men?

Research consistently shows the vital role men play in driving progress. A Boston Consulting Group study reveals that when men are actively engaged in gender equality initiatives, 96% of companies report progress. By contrast, in companies without their involvement, only 30% see advancement.

This makes sense: globally, men hold approximately 75–80% of executive roles and 60% of line management positions. Their decisions directly impact the careers of their female colleagues.

But what’s in it for men?

The benefits are substantial. Becoming advocates for gender balance enables men to:

    • Enhance communication and collaboration with female colleagues,
    • Develop inclusive leadership skills, which are increasingly sought after,
    • Build more cohesive, productive teams, and
    • Strengthen their career prospects by becoming role models for inclusion.

At a time when many men are reevaluating their roles in society and seeking ways to contribute positively, the PWI Brussels Engaging Men Program offers a unique opportunity to lead change, both in the workplace and beyond.

    Introducing the Engaging Men Program

Launching on 20 March 2025, this program is designed to inspire and equip male allies to become agents of change for gender-balanced and inclusive workplaces.

Run in collaboration with Robert Baker (https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-baker-potentia-talent-consulting/)a recognised global expert in allyship, the program builds on successful global initiatives and will:

    • Highlight the benefits to men, particularly male leaders, of embracing inclusion and gender balance,
    • Provide practical tools to develop inclusive leadership skills,
    • Elevate awareness of workplace barriers faced by both women and men, and
    • Foster collaboration between genders to achieve meaningful progress.

The need to Engage Men - Achieving Impact Together

Many studies have shown that gender balance in the workplace is critical to optimising the potential of an organisation’s workforce and delivers real business growth.

However, progress towards gender equality seems to be stalled globally and in Belgium. While women and underrepresented groups have long supported gender balance initiatives, men have been less interested and involved. Indeed research from Ipsos highlights that more than half (55%) of men globally now believe the fight for women’s equality has gone so far, it’s actually led to men being discriminated against.

PWI Brussels believes strongly that we need to address this situation urgently, and that a crucial element of success will be engaging male leaders and colleagues in our mission.

PWI Brussels is proud to partner with Robert Baker to lead the Engaging Men Program.

Robert Baker, Founder and CEO Potentia Talent Consulting, is a long term PWN Global Ambassador and expert in engaging men in gender balance.  He has extensive experience in getting men engaged in supporting gender equality. He is also a Trustee of One Loud Voice for Women and the Sister Sister Global Network as part of his efforts to support gender equality.

He is Vice-Chair of European Women on Boards and a Trustee of UN Women UK and selected by Management Today as an Agent of Change 2019, for his work in advancing gender balance.

A Boston Consulting Group study shows that in companies where men are actively involved in gender equality, 96% report progress. Conversely, in companies without their engagement, a mere 30% report progress. This is not surprising, given that globally men represent some 75-80% of executives and some 60% of line managers. The decisions they make about the women in their companies and teams can make a huge difference to these women’s careers.

The closing event of the Engaging Men Program invites all genders to go into dialogue with the men who participated to the Engaging Men Program. How can we as men and women work together to create lasting impact, to become role models on gender equality and advocate diversity.

Networking Event: Stories of Empowerment and Encouragement

Join us for an evening of networking and inspiring stories of professional and personal growth.

AS A PWI-MEMBER, BRING A GUEST FOR FREE!

For the past 2 years, we have been able to experience the power of community at our networking events.

Our Networking Event is called 'Stories of Empowerment and Encouragement' and begins with a story of a PWI-member, a journey of professional and personal growth. In listening to how others have overcome challenges, tackled hurdles and become more empowered in the process, we can learn that we are never alone and that so many others before us have paved the way.

We take inspiration from the stories of resilience and strength, to create a supportive space where we can start to build connections with one another. We will end the evening with a networking session that will allow us to ask questions and get to know each other on a deeper level.

We are dedicated to creating an authentic atmosphere of inclusivity and connection. We want to create a space where everyone feels comfortable and inspired to share their stories and create meaningful conversations. We will provide a safe environment to connect, grow and be empowered by each other’s stories. We believe that by networking in an inspiring way, and by creating a supportive space, we can empower and encourage each other to reach our fullest potential.

This is the agenda of the evening:

    • 6:30 - 7:30 - Welcoming participants

    • 7:30 - 8:30 - Event speech & talks

    • 8:30 - 9:30 - Networking

We hope to see you there. Come join us for an evening of networking, empowerment and encouragement!

Books selected for reading are announced three months prior to each Book Your Time event.

Who do I need to contact to signal interest in participating to one of the Book Your Time events?

To participate to one of the events, you need to register via the PWI website at the latest one month before the event. This will help us with the organisation of the activity.

Do I need to prepare something prior to the Book Your Time event?

You do not need to prepare anything in advance beyond reading the book. You may want to take your own notes as guiding material to use during the face-to-face event.

What is my commitment if I register to one Book Your Time event?

If you decide to join one of the Book Your Time events you will first need to register. By doing so, you commit to reading the book and to come to the face-to-face event in Brussels. Additionally, you are asked to maintain a respectful and constructive attitude towards all participants to the event. It is important that you honour the commitment to ensure the event remains an enriching experience for everyone.

Is there a fee to join a PWI Book Your Time event?

PWI members can join one (or more) Book Your Time events free of charge.
Non-PWI members will be charged with 25 EUR per event.

Is PWI providing with a copy of the book selected for reading?

PWI will not provide any copy of books. You are invited to get your own copy in the format (paper or electronic) and language that best fit you.

How can I contact the Book Your Time Club?

If you have questions or suggestions for Book Your Time, we’ll be happy to hear about those. You can contact us via bookclub@pwi.be. Please note that this email address cannot be used to register to Book Your Time events.
